RIP Hornyposting on CE. 1999-2024
i dont think about it ever
My fate was the grandest, most brilliant of them all.
He/Him
I have plans in place, my wife and I may be able to retire at 70ish. But who am I kidding, I live in the US. Just one emergency away from losing everything. Especially, if it's a medical one at the wrong place and time.

Could be improved. Right now my problem is shedding my family's material baggage. It's just junk and I'm not trying to "inherit" it
Competing every night, both ends, shoot inside/outside, fast break, transition, Monta Ellis have it all
I feel really good. I was taught financial responsibility at a young age and from the time I was a teenager was foreword thinking about my retirement.

ive been at my current job since June 28th 1999 and not only does my work do a 100% match they actually double what I put it up to a certain percentage. So my retirement is currently in great shape via work.

Then I have other investments as well. Im in my 40s and have zero bills. House is paid for, everything is paid for and I live CHEAP in the Midwest, especially considering todays financial climate. Im just stockpiling cash on hand and more investments at this point.

If I could keep my excellent free work insurance I could easily retire in the near future in my 50s. Its not money keeping me working. Its good insurance.

pretty good, could be better but it's not bad by any means
THRILLHO
Plan is for us to retire when our youngest twins enter college.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
Very good. No college loan debt, not mortgage, healthy household income.
My alt is my new main
What retirement? World will be a different place 40 years from now
lions and panthers oh my
It's going okay. I work for the government, so I'll get a pension when I retire. I need to promote more though, so that I can make enough to actually afford to pay into a 401k. Then I might be able to retire early (the earlier I retire, the smaller my pension will be, so the 401k would have to supplement it).

if I retired right now, I'd be screwed. If I retire in 50 years, I'll still be screwed.

Not great tbh. Im not terrible with money, but I dont make a lot of it, either so its pretty balanced lol. Ive been contributing to a Roth IRA for a long time and have a decent chunk of change I guess. Id like to contribute a lot more but thanks to an unexpected car Ill be paying off for another 5 years (and lord knows what else may happen), I really cant.

I contribute to a 401k through work that matches it also but its really not a lot.

And unfortunately Im completely braindead about investing and such and I have not one single idea in my head for finding or working towards a real job thatll pay me actual adult money so I really dont know lol.
Hurry up, Goldenrod! You're gonna be a permanent resident!
I won't be retiring and I'm tempted to zero out my 401k contributions instead.

I'm definitely done for if I live to be old.
A worthless existence
I made a bunch of money in my 20s and just saved it. Now I don't need to save aggressively and it's awesome. I'm in a low cost of living area, so it's wildly inexpensive for me to be me. Potentially, I could have retired in my early 50s, but I changed to a career that I'm much happier in but make less money. Most likely, I'm out around 60 now.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.
Government job. So I'm chilling. Contribute 25% into my TSP (basically 401k for feds). Idk if I want to move up more than a GS12, but we will see.
Am I going too hard?
Ok I guess, still regret not saving a dime throughout my 20's. Right now I'm just about on track to have a modest retirement, but I have to battle rising rent prices, debt free though

I've had an IRA since I was about 25 and I also plan on marrying a brain surgeon. I'm not too worried.

Never think about it because it won't happen.

Years of being an unabashed drunkard pretty much guarantees that I'm going to an early grave. I turn 39 in a few days and it seems highly unlikely that I'm going to make it through my 40s.
Save for your doomed future
Every day I pray to Korean Jesus that government pensions still exist in 30 years

I think I'm set. In my country, I get a mandatory pension of ~$2500/month until I die. In addition, my personal pension fund will be ~$1'000'000 at the time I retire. I can decide to take it all at once, being paid monthly, or a combination of both.

I've decided I'll just move in with you as my retirement plan
No idea. I put money in something so hopefully that's doing something for me.

Pretty OCD (is that offensive?) about maintaining it. So we are ok but always looking to contribute more

Im 37 now and plan to retire by the time Im 45.
Doesn't really matter to me. I could retire tomorrow if I felt like it, but I like having extra money for vacations and activities and having a way to get out of the house.

Good, assuming global warming's impact on the world isn't that major in about 30 years and the Untied States remains fairly stable politically and socially.

Ahead of schedule.
There's a difference between canon and not-stupid.
Started 401k in 2022, roth IRA and HSA in 2023, hit 50k saved last week. Still way behind at my age, so maxing out HSA and roth 401k and doing 37% contribution to regular 401k. Thank goodness for no rent.
