definitely 1973, when I was in elementary school the 2000 version would be far too new! also it's rated G!
also i remember one time the whole school brought all the classrooms into the gym to watch E.T. projected on the wall and then eliott calls his brother penis breath and the room lol'd, I looked over to the principal and just made a big "oops" expression
