How is this story bullshit? If the white mother blames her daughter's valedictorian status on race it only proves Jasmine's story as her daughter would not have been promoted to the second valedictorian if she was black. If the white girl (Heather) had been in the black girl's (Jasmine's) position do you honestly think they would have had two valedictorians? I know you want to say they would have but, given the facts, it clearly is not the case.
No, the argument would be that she was forced to share the seat BECAUSE the other girl was black with the bulk of the claim echoing hers -- because they have have equal claim in most regards -- except the "punchline" would be that the school wanted to look progressive by handing half the title to a black girl. However, the other mother is more mature than Jasmine's mom.
