I think people are forgetting that cars are about freedom
The freedom to go where you want when you want, and not have to stick to a bus/train schedule
Cars are about more than getting from point a to point b, its about getting from point a to point b on your time, no one else's
The attitude is me first, my time is worth more than the world... Very American
I didn't imply my time, or anyone's, is worth more than the world...
Im a libertarian, I don't think governments should do more than what is listed in the constitution (I know it only applies to America, but I would argue that it would improve many places, but that's for another discussion) and taking away cars isn't in there, saving the world isn't in there
I would argue governments are incapable of saving the world from climate change, or anything else and it's more up to scientists to find a solution (whether it's greener cars or something else entirely)

Where does the government come into this exactly? No one talked about banning cars. Public transit is something the majority of America supports.
The biggest offenders are not individual citizens, they are large industrial entities that need more oversight. They're deferring the environmental costs of doing business to everyone else
Individuals do need to take action. Everyone does. And if that means getting somewhere a little slower on someone else's schedule at times, that's life. What a minor sacrifice
I think we can agree something needs to be done, and that corrupted industries are the biggest offenders, I think we should definitely do everything we can to get off fossil fuels but in the meantime I don't think using cars less will make too much of an impact
people who try to make points with typical american are fucking idiots lmao

It's like she's trying to be the pretentious, condescending vegan stereotype. She somehow seems to believe than being selfish is an exclusively American trait. She needs to quit being an ignorant bigot
Yeah in the long term countries will need to develop efficient public transit systems that will work for most people.
If all of China and India were to start driving that would probably end the world right there.
*eats meat in front of vegans to prove them wrong somehow*
0% selfish. stop being a self righteous vegan and come back when you can argue reasonably. im having ribs tonight and burgers tomorrow.
