I really want to try one. But I want to go with friends...
went to a Sherlock themed one a few months back. We escaped and saved the world from a bioweapon or something.

The one I went to couldn't be completed solo. At one point, we had to press these two red buttons that were in different rooms at the same time to get a painting to swing open. There were a few other team puzzles like that, too. But definitely get a team together and give it a shot!
The puzzle aspect of it turned me off. Whe. I first heard of thrm I thought you had to literally find a way to break out like using a crowbar you find in the to pry a door open or having to tear the room apart to find a hidden set of keys. Ya know something more likely to happen in a real life situation where you need to escape.

Maybe they do have room like that, as well... Ive played video games with escape rooms, so the puzzle aspect is what draws me to them...

I dont mind the idea of puzzles but it would ruin immersion for me unless you gave me some kind of saw movie plot type thing to go off. (Just no self mutilation shit)

But I thought people irl always get trapped in rooms where there's a note under the floorboard written in all lowercase letters except for five random uppercase letters that must be arranged to form a word that gets inputted into the combination lock. Totally practical!

Are you talking about the Zero Escape series? I love 999 and Virtue's Last Reward, but I haven't played the third one yet.
I actually preordered Zero Time Dilemma and haven't played it yet..
I have all three and have played all three. I love that series. When I first Heard they were finally making Zero Time Dilemma, I was super excited. And I got it. I know they sell them on steam. They had a sale not too long ago...
