I guess mostly concerning the things that take up the most space. How many pairs of pants do you have, how many coats? sweaters? I have about 5 pairs of pants and 2 coats, but my girlfriend has about 20 of each. How many is too many?

That question is wildly dependent on whether you're asking a man or a woman, or someone who's middle class vs someone who's filthy rich.

I have like five pairs of jeans, three pairs of slacks, several pairs of shorts, a couple coats, a couple jackets, a couple sweatshirts, a few pairs of sweatpants, an unknown number of shirts (both long and short-sleeved), and a dozen or so pairs of boxers and socks. In all honesty, if I had the closet space and money, I'd buy more as I don't like wearing the same clothes day-in and day-out, but there are some clothes I love wearing, like my Rabbit sweatpants and hoodie. Comfiest apparel ever.
But the real question is, who the fuck cares? So much judgement.

Idk I have probably like 15-20 shirts that I wear regularly, 5 pairs of shorts, and 4 pairs of pants. I have like 3 sets of dress clothes that I barely wear

I have like 2 full sets of clothes outside of my work uniforms and thats about it. You dont even need more than that since you only get 2 days off of work each week anyways.

I have around 2-3 full drawers of short sleeved shirts. Might go through them at some point and donate some of the lamer ones.

I'm a creature of habit and mostly wear the same outfits for certain occasions. With that said I see nothing wrong with having a new look now and then so don't think you can have too many clothes. From the top of my head I have:
5 pairs of footwear
4 Coats
3 Jackets
8 pair of pants/jeans.
8 Shirts
8 T shirts
2 hats
Loads of socks and boxers

I own about 4 pairs of blue jeans because who needs more than that. I have about 15 pairs of pants in addition to the jeans, around 40 or so shirts different varieties, Bunch of suits, shoes just too many to count including sneakers.
I keep the basic meaning I have dress trousers and shirts with 4 blazers for times that don't require a tie.
Too many pairs of underclothes and socks to list.

In my hometown there's a program to help men recovering from addiction and they take clothes donation so I give clothes away to them.

I have a lot of clothes, but it's really about if you actually wear them or not. It's "too much" if you have stuff in your closet you haven't worn in years.
