Particularly dumb because a washing machine is a pretty good approximation for a cubic yard or cubic meter

Why didnt they use ft for approximate measurement in this case? /Im not American btw

Just another example of the infrastructure in America being in disrepair. They have closed so many roads and bridges where I live because they are unsafe for driving and they are scrambling trying to make repairs that should have been done decades ago.

Im not particularly fond of it. But I will say that many people would probably understand the size in those cases

This one irks me a lot. I know it's meant as a visual aid to help people picture it, but how many people who aren't Olympic swimmers actually know the approximate size of an Olympic swimming pool off the top of their heads?
