Sort of. Ever since I moved out here on my own, I've realized that I haven't got much to keep me happy in my free time. I just feel like I'm biding my time until the work-week starts again.

I mean, compared to other things people have asked for advice on in this board, not especially so.

Exercise is a great hobby. I started P90x about 7 years ago and it was a game changer.

I also bought a bass guitar last year. I still majorly suck ass at it, it's like my fingers aren't long enough or angled correctly or something (not to mention my rhythm is horrible). But I do mess around on it and follow tutorials or simple tabs every now and then.

Just start trying things. There's a community for just about anything if you want to get better at it or want people to do it with.

Trying to cook interesting meals that you wouldn't otherwise have any idea how to do is a decent one.

I picked up mountain biking and like it as a relatively easy one person way to get outside and be challenged...although it's going to beat me up if I keep doing it.

Writing a book...just because?

Really, though, I suck at finding new hobbies.

Then no, it wouldn't be stupid. :)

Find (3) hobbies.

(1) is hopefully your job.
(2) should be the opposite of what you do for a living. For example, if you sit at a desk all day, find a hobby that is physical (like walking, jogging, swimming, etc.) If you spend all day doing construction work, consider something relaxing (like reading, video games, etc.)
(3) should be something creative. Art work, music, writing, painting, baking, etc.

Step 1: Try something new
Step 2a: If you like it, keep doing it
Step 2b: If you don't like it, see if communities around that activity can tell you if you're doing something wrong to hamper your enjoyment, otherwise, try something else.
This is my signature. It exists to keep people from skipping the last line of my posts.
Do you want the kind of hobby that'll be just your own solitary activity, or do you want to meet and maybe join with like-minded people who enjoy the same interest?

I locked the previous topic because I was able to answer the question that the first response posed to me. You can easily guess the nature of that answer based on the currrent status of that topic, which you've mentioned already.

I'm a self-sabotaging pessimist who doesn't tend to think much of himself or his queries. I expect others to share the same sentiments by asking a close-ended question, rather than an open-ended one that may entertain the possibility that my question is not as foolish as I had initially believed, by virtue of no one voicing my thoughts.

exercising

It's not a bad suggestion. But I think I'd feel far more comfortable exercising at home, seeing as I'm too self-conscious to do it in a gym, in public, and in any venue that invites social gatherings.

I'd say get a couple pairs of weights.... like maybe 10s and 20s, learn some dumbell movements you can do at home. Squats, lunges, rows, curls, etc. Doing even if for just 15, 20 minutes a day can lift one's mood. I work out because I have anxiety. It just so happened to make me fit, but the anxiety relief is why I continue doing it.

I have adhd, I jump between hobbies all the time. What kind are you looking for?

Sewing can be fun, pick up a sewing machine and make yourself a pretty dress or a nice suit. You can also sell products. If you want to make bank, furries or cosplayers will throw hundreds if not thousands of dollars on good costumes.

Music is a good option. It takes a while to get good, but after a bit you can just putz around making noise that makes you feel better.

You mentioned writing, joining a fanfiction community or a writing prompt site are good ways of practicing your writing.

Board games, and card games are a good way to get the brain going. Chess, go, euchre. You can play with bots or have a game to play when real people visit.

Read or watch TV if you just want to relax.

Crochet, knitting, quilting is are good hobbies for getting some money back.

I've never done it, but I remember back in school there was a guy really into airplane dogfights. Basically he would build really cheap air planes put a flag on the back and fight other people who did the same. Last one still flying with its flag wins. He would build them out of plastic toy bats and stuff.

If you have the space maybe something outside. Like gardening, or landscaping.
I am awesome and so are you.

Writing music is just the most underrated way to kill time and get better at something.

I don't mind reading your posts as long as they are not a 300*300 block of text.
