Playing 2K in manager mode and I get "fired" from the position. 40 hours of gameplay down the drain, no reload from last save, hell no option to even buy your way with real currency out of being fired.

why do developers do this type of anti consumer shit?

that... actually sounds pretty good to me, it's like any game where you can lose. Losing in games hasn't been a thing since about 2002, but ya...

I've always enjoyed hardcore mode in games like diablo and path of exile, which is the same concept. It's not for everyone, but the risk of losing all progress can make things way more engaging.
And with that... pow! I'm gone!

When this dialogue used to come up in NBA 2k18 you could actually pay in game currency (or real world money) to plead for your job.

Annoying I cant even do that in this game.

I'm not generally a fan of losing after investing that much time, which is why I tend not to play hardcore mode in ARPG's and usually play Civ on easier difficulties, but if a game presented me with such a lose condition but then offered to let me pay real money to avoid it, I'd probably actually snap the game in half. That's utterly bullshit, even compared to the rest of the horrible world of game monetization.

For singleplayer games, I'd just find a way to hack the game honestly. They don't respect me, I won't respect them.

Though that won't work with games that are terminally online, so stuff like manager mode have always been massive red flags to me.

That feeling where you had a good run through Sonic 2, all the way to Death Egg, and Metal Sonic is just eating away your lives and continues cuz you haven't figured out how to beat him cleanly.

Then in the rare chance you do beat him, Eggman fucks you up immediately

Sonic 2 was legendary

Yeah exactly, its literally just saved on the cloud cos its always online.

I played NBA 2k18 for years until they disabled my single player mode because the servers were offline. The game is just dead now and unplayable hence why I had to pick up 2k22. In a few years time itll be time to move away from this one too.

Go and ask people that have been fired from jobs like that, It typically comes without any warning.

The game is just giving you the most realistic experience possible.
