Always remember people saying it was a great game, but currently I feel its rather mediocre. Currently at the part where you have to wait 3 minutes without moving behind a waterfall which just seems like a dumb puzzle to have in a game. The inventory system and the combat early on are also subpar in my opinion. Story wise Ive been digging it, but thats about it so far. Game has definitely gotten better as Ive gotten further, so hopefully it just continues to improve.
it's more that it was a pretty unique game for its time that tried some new and weird tricks that didn't all work out. you either love it or hate it. it absolutely does get better as you progress though.

As a game, it actually isn't all that great. It was a pretty "behind the times" RPG when it came out and the interface leaves a lot to be desired.

Storywise, it is pretty good. But once you experience it I never see a reason to go back.

I always thought it was a great rpg; the battle mechanics are super solid

AFAIK, no other game has the rolling HP mechanic outside of the mother series. Enjoy it, it can create some fun tension, maybe not early game, but late game for sure.

A spoiler regarding that, I believe an NPC tells you this, but just in case.

If you defend your health rolls down slower too.

The beginning is very annoying but it picks up when you get your 2nd party member
Delicious and vicious, while maliciously nutritious.
Would an Earthbound remake in the style of the Super Mario RPG remake be good? Like, and it's all claymation, too?

quirky is the way to describe it

i definitely wouldn't say it's great (i don't know if there's a snes rpg I'd say that about except bahamut lagoon), but it's a worthwhile experience, probably

This is not correct, as I like the game, but I definitely wouldn't say I love it
Don't ask.
I greatly enjoyed it playing it for the first time about 5 years ago. I can see why people wouldn't find the mechanics interesting, and the inventory system is kinda crap.

Its a good game but I cant stand the inventory system. So cumbersome and unintuitive.

ok, this I can agree with.

It's one thing to have limited inventory, that's fine, but they made it cumbersome to manage even that.

Frickin waiting for deliveries and shit, man. And the backtracking if you have to go to a town if you use up all your items in a dungeon.

I know thats supposed to be part of the challenge, but Im a damn adult with way less time and more responsibilities. Aint got time to slog back and forth just to make sure I can progress through the game.

Doesnt ruin the game, but its definitely an annoying feature.

Mother 3 has way better systems for everything. It's an amazing game after playing Earthbound. Still and Earthbound fan but I get the frustrations too.
