Not sure what you asked but a lot of the posts in that topic were just flustered whining and don't really warrant a response.
I'm still waiting for a definition of what politics are because UTA came out and said things like black lives matter, and trans rights are human rights are apolitical statements. I believe they also mentioned facts as being apolitical. So would it be political if I said isreal killed 11 people when they launched a military strike against a Gaza refugee camp that hit the camps playground. Would it be political to say the attack by Hamas on October 7th killed more than 1,100 people? Is it political to talk about Trump's trial? Or would it only be political to add opinion with the fact?
I am awesome and so are you.

I was asking how they will track the success of this change. What measures do they take to define it. If the trend is negative, will they reassess? I work with data many times and look at these things. I didn't care for the decision itself. Canada is not brought up much in talking circles.
Above all things, never be afraid. The enemy who forces you to retreat is himself afraid of you at that very moment.
I can almost guarantee "tracking success" will just be a matter of "are we making more money now?". Fandom doesn't have any particular reason to assess any finer metrics like user contentment, moderator workload, or our sense of community, they just see that GameFAQs isn't making much money, made some guesses as to what might be limiting its potential, and are trying a change that they hope will get more users in to increase ad revenue.

Of course, the actual reason GameFAQs is struggling is that game-specific wikis and video walkthroughs have rendered comprehensive text guides mostly obsolete. That left the boards as being the primary value, particularly being a single location with boards for thousands of different games (as distinct from so many forum sites in the early 2000's dedicated to just one game or series), but decades of failing to keep up with advances in forum design caused an lot of people to go elsewhere, particularly to Reddit, so the site stopped being a top destination for people looking to discuss games. Toss in that GameFAQs really doesn't do much in the SEO department, and you're left with a site that mostly only has value for looking up guides for games that are too old/obscure to have wikis or a presence on Reddit, plus the handful of holdouts that stuck with the old forum design because they liked/like it better than alternatives. I don't think there's really much potential to draw new traffic.

Regarding gamefaqs and SEO, when I search for a game I almost never see a gamefaqs link in the search results. How are they even getting new users?
I occasionally see GameFAQs links show up, but they're pretty much always after Reddit and at least one SEO clickbait site like Game Rant or Game8, and there's usually a wiki link or two in there as well if it's a game that's at all popular. Sometimes it's also after video results. This is also only for less popular games. "Xenoblade 3 builds" gives a GameFAQs board link (albeit one from December 2022, making it clearly less recent than other options) as the third result, but "Elden Ring builds" doesn't give a GameFAQs link until the 46th result, putting it below the video results section, "people also ask," related searches, and even the image results section. Nobody's clicking on that.

Half the time, it's other Fandom sites that show up before GameFAQs, so I don't even know that they'd want to fix that.

How much are the ignoring?
Anyone who doesn't agree is part of the problem.
The part where there's feedback. The official statement from the community manager is (paraphrased) "We're getting a lot of people saying that they're unhappy with the changes, which is exactly what we expected, but we're going to make absolutely no changes to our plans." There never was any intention of adjusting the plan based on feedback.

Hes an employee. Not the owner. He doesnt have authority to make sporadic changes on a dime or even respond and comment to some things.

Hes taking notes, and working in the backend. The fact that hes even interacting at all is proof of this.

Disgruntled GameFaqs users ranting and raving isnt going to suddenly bless DToast with a promotion so that he can make the series of executive decisions. All its going to do is make him apathetic in his duties.

This is common sense. I dont understand why none of you understand this. Its like screaming at the Starbucks Barista, and going so far as to key that college kids car because pumpkin spice lattes were taken off the menu.

someone who had the power to change things should have made the feedback topic. the feedback topic is useless if the feedback goes to someone who can't enact change

i can't even be mad at him as an individual because of how obviously corporate this whole shit is

i would absolutely not risk my job by objecting if my boss told me to shut down some political stuff on a gaming website. especially if it was some place i didn't really care about to begin with, and some reddit weirdos are sending me death threats over it!

the real asshole in this scenario is gonna go unnamed and unpunished because it's Good For The Company

No it isnt. This is how all corporations work.

DToast job is to take notes, monitor stats, make reports, present findings, then make suggestions to his managers on steps to take to make something profitable and then perhaps he gets allocated the resources to do so.

But hes not the decision maker. You cant expect the executives of a multi-million dollar organization to be chatting with CEmenits unrealistic

There was one post in one of the feedback topics where he outright said "insult me if you want, but don't insult Fandom," and that just made me really sad. Nobody gets paid enough for that degree of corporate simping.

That's nice, but it still doesn't change that there's plenty of feedback, so your premise that there's nothing but insults or whatever is outright false. He's just also told everyone that their feedback is worthless, so there's really no room to suggest that people can be more constructive.
