When a youtuber references that something is mentioned in "the card" and points to a corner of the screen. What the hell are they pointing to? Annotations were removed years ago.
GameFAQs has avatars because of an anti-transgender rant from a person who considers themself woke now.
There's a thing that pops up at the top right every now and then. It looks like an information bubble.

Videos still have end cards, though it's possible you don't see them if you're watching on a phone. I wouldn't know because I never watch videos that way.

How long has Fandom been collecting our telemetry?

Probably from day of sale, because the site has been collecting your data for like 20+ years now.

Selling user data has probably been the site's primary revenue stream for a looong time now. It's also the main reason they still bother running polls - because they sell the data as marketing info.

What does it do if you don't interact with it at all?
Is it not doing stuff until you allow it?
Or is it doing stuff until you indicate not to?

I'm pretty sure my info is useless but whatever. It's not like there's any money left in my bank account.

Because the real value is in breaking down and correlating the data. Most marketing companies aren't going to pay an employee to go look at every individual poll to try and pull data, but they'll pay for a report that spells out multiple trends in bite-size chunks, and can link those trends to user ages, locations, and other demographics.

GameFAQs can correlate that data on the back end, thus making it easy to sell.

Pretty much every business website that isn't a mom-and-pop collects telemetry
