Damage = ((Battle Power + ((Level * Level * Attack) / 256) * 3 / 2) * (255 - Defense) / 256) +1

Are you sure it isn't one of those more complicated systems where attack is chance to hit and defence is chance to not take damage a.k.a dodge.
