Elon Musk's obsession with Mars reaches it's peak with a device that has the supposed ability to transport people to one of the red planet's moons in an instant. It does not go well and kickstarts an apacolypse of biblical proportions.

I don't know about that. He does get a performance boost fighting on their home turf, though.

I was too lazy to go into detail, but the idea was to throw a bit of everything into the melting pot. Doom's "teleportation gone wrong" plot just strikes me as a good point to get the ball rolling, as opposed to other narratives where they're already here or on the verge of breaking through on their own.

I think the problem is that Doom takes place on Mars' moons, and the demons are all supposedly from hell. But then again, a lot of demon slaying plots are similar anyways. Those few points are uniquely Doom though.

Scene. Gameplay mechanics in real life are a superpower in of themselves. Ever character shrugs off heavy damage in gameplay that would otherwise kill them during cinematics.
