Expedition 33 looks like a Soulslike both in terms of gameplay
Huh? It's turn-based with an active parry/dodge system. I've seen it compared more to a CRPG/JRPG hybrid in reviews
Most of the reviews I've seen refer to it as a turn-based RPG with strong Soulslike elements.
It's entirely possible that's wrong though. I haven't delved deep into it, because I was mostly turned off by that description and what I saw of the aesthetic.
I've noticed that "Soulslike" is a common tag that store pages use nowadays, whether it's applicable or not, because they can market that to the gaming audience at large. Makes sense, since the genre straight up killed character action games and hijacked the overall action genre for the longest freaking time.pretty much what fnaf did to horror for over a decade, except at least souls games are actually decent and other games outside that franchise at least get made from time to time.

Souls easily did more damage to its genre than fnaf
gamepass has both baby!
gamepass has both baby!I can't deny, gamepass seems good when you have 2 good new releases at the same time like this.

Expedition 33 looks like a Soulslike both in terms of gameplay and aesthetic, so I have zero interest in it.it's a fucking turn based rpg, what the fuck gameplay have you been watching
both the founder, co founder, and creative director cite final fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10, and persona 5 as the main inspiration
it's damn near the exact type of game you wax nostalgic for
po: why can't we have nice turn based jrpgs like we used to back in the snes and ps1 era
I get that everybody is gushing about how awesome it apparently is (and that's fine - other people are allowed to like things I don't). But they did that for Elden Ring too and I didn't want to play that either. Nearly every positive I hear cited about why the game is so great are all things I either don't care about or actively dislike.
I think people are comparing it to Souls games because of the parry/dodge system specifically, which is not a great comparison.

'None of the above'I played an Early Access version of this and it felt kind of jank.
Tainted Grail: Fall of avalon, even more so if it eventually releases on disc (please). Oblivion remastered is just a happy meal in comparison.
