I used to know someone who rented out multiple houses, and he said his Section 8 renters were way better, because they actually paid on time and tended to take better care of the houses. While his normal renters would constantly give him the runaround on rent, treat the house like shit because they felt like they had the right to do whatever they wanted because they were paying, and then would steal shit when they left, because they were assholes.

His theory was that Section 8's either felt more gratitude for the housing assistance or felt shame for the fact that they needed it, and either way were more inclined to respect the rental agreement. Whereas the normal renters just had a "customer is always right" mentality and figured they could do whatever the hell they wanted.

im still on a waitlist, it all stems from a terrible year.

uncle went crazy from meth psychosis and ended himself a few years ago. that left me without the 1st income earner which makes almost all apartments impossible to pay for monthly.

Section-8 has a "standards" checklist on both sides. The renter and the property are essentially pre-filtered, which ends up working out for everyone involved - other than, of course, the taxpayers who are compelled to subsidize it.
majority of the time, the people on section 8 are still paying taxes, so they are subsidizing themselves as well.

thinking of them as a drain on taxpayers is asinine, because they're also taxpayers.

if they could subsidize themselves, they wouldn't need section-8

then your issue is more companies woefully underpaying their employees while skyrocketing their products prices under the guise of inflation then, and not people who need housing assistance in a market where a 100sqft shack is $2300 a month.

glad we could figure that out.
