This just popped into my head - we used to listen to it in elementary school music class every year around Halloween:

...which, in turn, reminded me that the song it's based on has also been associated with Halloween on its own in the past:

...which then reminded me that this was also a thing:

We used to watch/listen to all that stuff around Halloween in elementary school. Plus stuff like the Night on Bald Mountain segment of Fantasia. Basically, our music teacher used it as an excuse to play anything vaguely spooky but also classical, so she could trick us into appreciating sophisticated music. The bitch!
Of course, she also included the next song...

Michael Jackson Thriller.
Heard this on the radio today. I was immediately kind of happy, because it meant they were actually playing Halloween songs a few days before Halloween, instead of starting to play fucking Christmas music in mid-October like some stations do. But also because it reminded me of my aforementioned childhood nostalgia.
Though immediately after, they played a Backstreet Boys song, and I was like, what the hell does this have to do with Halloween?
I can only assume someone at the radio station must have remembered the music video, and thought it would make for a good choice, even if the song itself isn't particularly spooky:

Wait, they had more than one song?
I've literally only ever known them from this:
