I'm kinda into DealDash right now and was wondering if you guys have ever been sucked into that penny auction scene. If you have, how did it work out for you? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Did you win a lot? Lose a lot? Do tell!
Do you just pay a penny to bid or do you pay what the next bid is?
This is the first time Ive ever heard of them.
Nothing is real.

you bet with penny's. each time it's outbid you lose a penny. you pay for the bid at the end if win.

Aren't those sites pretty much a scam?

Yeah, the bids are pennies, but you have to purchase those bids.

That's why I never really got into them.
Am I going too hard?

Each site is different, but DealDash works on a sort of "point" system. You buy Bids in Bid Packs which fluctuate in price and capacity. Right now it's 13 cents for 1 Bid, so one of the packages they offer is 55 Bids for about 6 bucks. Then you find an auction you want and bid on it, hopefully until you win. But you have to be careful because not only are you paying the final price it ends up at, you're also paying for the bids. So even something as cheap as 2 bucks can be a lot more if you factor in how many Bids you used to get it. Some people throw away thousands of bids on a big ticket item, often doubling the retail price they could have paid if they had just bought the item outright. Also, the prices are inflated so say this comforter I won that was advertised as a $120 value was actually only $40 on Amazon. Sure, I got a good deal on it, but I had to spend $40 just to buy the Bid Pack so I about broke even.
Bump.

That sounds questionable.

It's a little scammy, but if you're conservative and cautious about how you bid, it can be worth it for one or two items.

That shit is such a scam.
Yes you "bid" pennies but you have to pay like .45 cents for every penny you want to bid. So you still end up paying more than the $2.75 item you won.

I'm fully aware of how it works. That's why I watch things I want and if it gets too expensive for what I think it's worth I don't bid at all.
Gotta love the easy marks

yes

I think you should categorize this sort of thing in the same area as casinos (eg: entertainment) rather than as some form of shopping
THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! THERES SO MUCH PEOPLE READING AND POSTING STUIPED STUFF
Looking at DealDash, there are a bunch of items with ten seconds left, but every time it reaches one second, someone bids another penny and the clock resets to ten seconds

That's dumb.

I do. I'm trying to win one thing then after that I'm gonna stop. I know it's kinda like gambling so I try not to get carried away. But it was fun to try just once.
