Jojolion Chapter 100 Out *Spoilers*

First third of the chapter was difficult to understand. Poor Rai got team-killed, but at least he confirms that the bubbles were infused with the Spin (even though I think we knew that from the Urban Guerilla fight).

Please catch up then. The issue with reading something that releases monthly is that it's easy to forget details from things 10+ chapters ago so it's important to discuss with people that binge it since they generally have a more complete picture of the story.

I ended up reading the chapter yesterday, and I'm really hoping my boy isn't going to die ;(

Certainly the most interesting part of this chapter is the return of spin, although something that's personally caught me is the drama between the two most prominent translations, HiWamatanoboru and Dogpark. In the former Wonder of U maintains a clinical, ominous aura as Rai approaches with Doggy Style, while in the latter WoU goofily breaks his composure. Dogpark made a big Twitter thread advocating his translation, and some of his points seemed fair while others seemed more ambiguous or reaching (including an excessive injection of filler/stutter dialogue like "I mean," repetition, and a " 'cause"). Some people found it really hard to take seriously eg pic related



I guess which one I prefer depends on the nature of Wonder of U and whether Satoru is more of an independent personality or if Tooru has some direct control over it. It is supposed to be the Head Doctor so it makes sense for him to speak professionally

Oh yeah I saw that too. I think since Hiwa is the one weve been following the entire part that itll probably be more consistent with the previous portrayals. Super casual Wonder of U is pretty funny though.

Like the references to Heaven much earlier wouldve been pretty important.

I wouldn't mind if Dogpark just toned it down a little bit, he comes off like he has a chip on his shoulder or something. Cool about the Heaven stuff though. Stone Ocean is definitely the messiest Colored Adventure translation. Typos EVERYWHERE.

Would also like to know if 'flow' used in the WoU and Parfait scenes is the same kanji as what Jobin uses

Lot of people have speculated that Jobin has a hidden potential beyond heat concentration but they typically just make it an extension of heating eg "he can accelerate molecules" being the most common one. But what if Jobin's ability to delay the 'flow' of heat until someone else releases it is a similar mechanism to what Wonder of U does?

I'm expecting Josuke's spin to relate to "flow" and not necessarily involve the golden rectangle (perfect golden rotation is only possible with a horse anyway right? I find it hard to believe WoU can be beaten by the equivalent of Tusk Act 2). It would make sense for a fruit specialist like Rai to be able to teach him that.

Oh wow, that's interesting. I'm looking forward to the anime adaptation of Stone Ocean then, since I feel those misunderstandings are generally cleared up when it gets adapted.

Similarly, Josuke did mention during his first use of Soft & Wet that the bubbles do spin. I feel like that was something a lot of people noted at the beginning, since it was fairly soon after Steel Ball Run, but the topic was dropped as the plot progressed and more relevant questions came up.

I feel like even if they do finish off the Head Doctor here, there's still Kaato and Jobin to deal with. I wonder if there's any connection between Kaato and Tooru, since they both have swirly hairstyles.

I think there's still a piece to everything we're missing. Yasuho said at the start that JJL is about lifting a curse, and I don't think that this plot can be satisfactorily resolved by just exterminating Jobin Kaato and the rock species. It's inconceivable to me that Josuke just takes the plant for himself and/or returns it to the Higashikatas after healing Holly since at that point Jojolion is basically an Idiot Plot set up by a guy who's either down or even already dead (Jobin). I think either

-the Rokakaka and 'equivalent exchange' is the curse and nobody gets it (given how Araki always portrays Roka exchanges as menacing and unnatural)
-Tsurugi's heart transformation will be consequential enough that Josuke Yashuo and the remaining Higashikatas finally have to unite as one to deal with it

A lot of people on /a/ treat Josuke vs Doctor almost like Johnny and Valentine fighting over the corpse but there's a lot more layers that still need to be unraveled here.

JUST started Jojolion, though I haven't read in a few weeks. I need to get caught up.

The only thing I didn't like about this chapter was how hard it was to follow the action, but I guess that's where the anime will come to shine to make it easier to follow. With that said, I'm glad that Araki didn't abandon the Spin like he did with Hamon.
