» Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why is Trump pushing for $2k?

What's his motivation behind this? Does he think this will buy him a next term?
Did he take Rand Paul's speech about "if we're giving free money, why not $1000 or $2000" literally?
Was it merely another way of saying "tl;dr" to those 5,000 pages?

Most likely this will just push things back for Biden to deal with and puts biden in a tough spot. Biden can veto and everyone gets pissed that 'dems are delaying the stimulus' or he accepts it and 'biden doesn't care about the people, trump did'.

Why would Biden veto this? Democrats across the board want a stronger stimulus package, they're all voicing support for it

He wants to screw Mitch McConnell for making him lose.
Obviously someone with a brain cell made a passing remark that Mitch cost him the election by not letting him do a huge stimulus before it.
He probably also wants the PR of being able to say he handed a great economy over to Biden.

Same reason he put his name on the first round of stimulus checks. So all the poor people think it's all Donald Trump helping them out, which is kind of ironic, because historians will probably look back on the last 4 years as the Mitch McConnell presidency.

I'm against any bill that gives corporate welfare. Much like people companies should have savings in the bank to weather a rainy day, or they should adapt their business model.

Although I understand and respect that perspective, even people/businesses who had savings are out of cash, as they had to rely on that to get through the past months, some for the better part of this year.
Even if some of them could adapt (and I approve of it when people/businesses get by on their own strength if they can), many simply do not have the luxury of that option.

To offer some clarification I think we need a social safety net for people. However corporations shouldn't get welfare. The Fed is already messing with things by pumping billions into the market to make the illusion that we're doing great. We don't need to turn around and pay CEO's bonuses so they can cut labor to save cost.

You mean the President whose personal lawyer is confirmed to be a Russian spy? Or the one who had the department of homeland security kidnapping Americans off the street for using their first amendment rights? Or the one who did absolutely nothing to curb the spread of the pandemic? Or the one that talks about how inspiring he finds dictators?

I don't think it's wise to ascribe complex motives to Trump: he's profoundly simple. He's always wanted at least $1,200 checks, but he was too lazy/unfocused to ever really push for them, which enabled Mitch to stonewall Democratic efforts to secure further stimulus in peace.
Now that the election has happened, I think there are likely two reasons Trump has suddenly seized on the $2,000 checks: the first being that, to the extent that he understands that he lost, he likely believes sending out more checks could have saved(or could save him, lol), something that's probably actually
accidentally
correct(in the first case). The second is that he's angry at Mitch and the Republican leadership for only half-heartedly backing his attempt to steal the election and he sees this as a way to get back at them(because they don't want to do this).
Whatever his reasons, Pelosi actually did a great job of seizing upon the statement to push for them to actually happen, which allows them either actually happen, or forces the Republicans to publicly kill the proposal, allowing Ossof and Warnock down in Georgia to make the point that electing them will net you a cool $2,000 (at least) over re-electing Perdue and Loeffler, the people who DON'T want you to have $2,000!

It's an argument that can be made, that is both sound factually and appealing ("Vote for me, and I'll literally give you money!"). It may not make a huge difference, but then both elections are expected to be pretty close.
