Pushpika De Silva had her crown removed onstage by the previous winner. Caroline Jurie claims that De Silva was divorced and was therefore ineligible. The crown was then given to the runner up.
De Silva responded later saying that she was indeed separated and not divorced, otherwise she would have never qualified.
