What you do

atm I make pizzas and take orders, will soon be running shifts. Barking orders and giving breaks to the people making pizzas and handing out free pizzas to customers that decide to complain.

Really? I think its to make sure people are able to handle food safely and not infect customers with salmonella, but my last job (Taco Bell) just had us do a 10 minute module on the computer that told us how to sing happy birthday while we wash our hands.

Do you know that before I joined the military I only worked as a waiter and side jobs at mcdonalds and other restaurants and I didn't know a food handlers license was a thing until today.

Fast food places, at least Taco Bell, provide their own license thats regulated through the modules you take the 2 shifts before you start work + the monthly one that comes with learning how to make the new promotional item

Youd think you want someone serving you food to know what proper temperature said food should be at, or the ingredients be held at.

In my state you have to pay ~$70-80 for a bartending license every year and it includes an online training course that you have to pass.

Definitely could be illegal depending on state. Would be illegal in Texas for example. I don't even think you can sell homemade packaged food at a farmer's market in Texas without a food handler's license.

It's just an online class and test you have to take, but it works pretty effectively as a barrier against employment for people without computer access.

Are you sure its required? Whats the state.

I had a food handling license and a liquor serving license in WA. They were both online tests that you just watch some videos and do some quizzes about. I think the food one was $10 and good for 1-3 years and the liquor was maybe $13 and good for about the same amount of time. It was the same as computerized workplace trainings or the Alcohol Awareness thing everyone had do to before freshman year of college.

Different states and types of venue have different laws and loopholes.

Yeah luckily it can be done online, I'm just not sure if it costs money or something which would be my personal barrier of entry.

No clue, I never bothered learning the actual legal reasonings. All I knew was my last job circumvented the whole process.

General depression keeping me from doing anything. Started working same day I had to put my cat down, off meds, can't afford "meds" that help me regulate my mood and now the weather/holidays are kicking my ass.
