Slightly surprised since the bill passed with bi-partisan support in the House and Senate

But not really since McConnell is an ass

His problem with the bill is that it protects inter-racial gay couples as well as straight couples

If it was purely for straight couples, he'd support it.

Something he likes? That is a federal issue and should be done at the federal level.
Something he doesn't like? That should be a States Right issue OR made illegal at the federal level.

Newsweek has asked Mitch McConnell's office for comment.
The article is sensationalist rage mongering. "Politician votes against free puppies desoit having several dogs" would be analogous.

The most important thing this does is remove DOMA, which should have been recognized as unconstitutional long before Obgerfell.

I'm not following your logic - your analogy isn't quite accurate, since the bill wouldn't give out anything, just protect the acquisition of 'things' (Politician votes against bill making it legal to own dogs across the country despite already owning a dog). How is it sensationalist rage mongering? I'm not seeing the exaggeration..
