Just finished season 1.

Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara aren't as funny as they should be. Alexis is awful. David and Stevie are the highlights of the show by far.

Season 2 and up is when it gets really damn good.

I enjoyed the entire show but I started liking it a lot more when Alexis starts working at the vet clinic

Near the season 2 finale is what won me over softly.

It's not the kind of pure laughs and comedy that many other shows like 30 Rock, Parks and Rec or B99 are, but it's a very mild nice show to put on in the background.

Alexis is pretty bad at first but she gets better

Yes David and Stevie are the highlight of the show

I'm OK with subtle humor. I just wasn't getting much of it outside of David. His mannerisms are incredible.

That's kind of what happens with a lot of shows. The first season is just setting stuff up, but the second season gets rolling.
Face it Cloud is a gaming icon and has appered in lots of games while mario has only appeared in 2 games sunshine and 64 ~xSlashbomBx

Is this going to devolve into the typical "You know that show that was insanely popular and universally loved? Yeah, it's not that good" trash take topic?

Season 2 into 3 gets really good once they get passed the "will they/won't they" dynamic of Stevie and David.
It takes zero effort to be a good person.

I really enjoyed David's and Alexis's character development, especially Alexis's, and as mentioned that really hits the stride mid-Season 2. Stevie and David are the best parts of the show, though, so a lot of your ability to enjoy it will be predicated on how much you enjoy the screen time they get together.

How much you appreciate the other principals helps a lot too. Like, you're going to hate the mom, but if it hits too close to home or you find her grating, that's going to make things difficult for you.

2 and onward are amazing. 1 is good and better than most shows first season, but once 2 gets going it's basically already much better.
