I like being able to pick up my TVs.

My 50in TV weighs half as much as my old 25in CRT I had as a teenager.

I don't miss the high pitch tone that goes whenever it's on.

We used to have a 36-in Zenith back in the day. Thing was a monster; so heavy

Theyre basically necessary to play true retro consoles with good quality.

Yeah still got my 27 inch Sony Wega for 2D & Arcade gaming, and because it's still worth a decent amount of money apparently.

Haven't had a good sig idea since 2006
I hate how heavy those monsters could be.

Those things scare the shit out of me. I saw my friend's dad get electrocuted by one of those once because he was trying to work on it and didn't discharge it first. He didn't die, but apparrently it really really fucking hurt judging by the sound he made. It was inhuman and is forever etched into my memory.

Upscalers have come a long way. Do agree that CRTs will always be best, but I have an OSSC which I use for SNES and Genesis. Games look amazing on it on my 55 inch oled. Only exception is games with prerendered assets (DKC, Mario RPG, etc). They still look like ass, just less so.
I keep a CRT for SNES gaming.
Dark89
had a 40in crt sony trinitron before, disposing of that thing took 3 people lol.

This. And this goes for computer monitors as well.

I got a 13" bubble crt last year and it is fantastic. Great colors/contrast and fairly recently made (2005).

Last month I got a flat 20" crt and it is atrocious. Any scrolling movement looks like there's a gravity well on the left side stretching the image. Then there's what I would describe as a magic carpet effect in the middle. Service menu is a no go with this model.

These things were not meant to be flat I see that now. This experience has deflated my desire to seek out a trinitron much less another crt.
I have a 32 and 27 inch for my retro gaming setup. Love having all my old consoles hooked up to them via component and s-video. They look amazing and play amazing with the whole no lag aspect.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you'd need to open it up to either adjust the yoke or apply some magnetic strips to the back of the tube to stretch/fix the image. Simple enough fixes honestly. If you check out the crtgaming subreddit, you'll get a lot of people willing to help.

CRT's are heavy but also very durable and can last a long time.

that's not true, there's also the upscaler route, with which you can use them on HDTVs and get great image quality. Retrotink are the current best in the market

Wahh, they are so heavy! Jesus, I parked my 27" Panasonic in my gaming area and haven't moved it for like 6 years. When I do have to move it, it's like 50 lbs.

And I wish I had a bigger one. There are always grannies cleaning up their attics around here and I'm going to find a good Trinitron for cheap at some point.
