No idea who that is but good for him?
I've felt their recent releases to be more of the same thing in the last 10 or so years since Portnoy left. They absolutely have been. I've noticed a lot of repeated/similar riffs, solos, etc. on their newest stuff, and most of it really does feel like "been there, done that".
Hopefully they include him in the creative process, because they really need it right now.
What even was your thought process clicking on this topicI thought the TC might inform us
You didn't know who Mike was, and it's pretty obvious you don't know who Dream Theater are. What brought you here
Even though DT sucked (and still do) at the time, how do you quit that for Avenged Sevenfold?Yeah, I remember thinking that it was super random when it happened and feeling a bit embarrassed for him when A7x didn't bring him on full-time, as he had envisioned. It was pretty understandable why the rest of DT told him to fuck off when he tried to come back.
Unless he's found a way to make himself and the rest of the band good at writing music - nothing is going to change for the band
boo this manthey are the epitome of technical prowess with no song writing ability
haven't written a good song since 1992There's some great stuff on 6 Degrees and Scenes of a Memory
Some big "Pull Me Under is their only good song" energy
I can't believe you guys are discounting Train of Thought. fantastic album.
DT was only good in the 80s and 90s
I remember when dream theater was a meme on here many years ago

awake is a better album than I&WI think I agree with this overall, though PMU and Metropolis are better than any individual song on Awake.
