I filled mines up yesterday for $3.19, drove for 20 miles, then saw it for $2.99. That $3 lost felt way worse than it should have

I think gas went up because of sanctions placed on Venezuela. Now US is relaxing them (perhaps in exchange for being allowed to deport persons of Venezuelan origin to Caracas).

I think the price of food is also due to economic sanctions. That patriotic warmth you get from seeing countries punished is bought and paid for by you when you need to eat.

Gas is a lot more volatile so there is a lot more reason for it to go back down.
