Do I have to be invited to this thing to use it?

I made a profile but my options seem pretty limited, it says I can create my own server or use an invite link to join one, I cant just search and join something?

Typically discord is used with friends to communicate through text or voice. You can join massive public servers dedicated to things you like and are in the discover tab usually. Or you can join other servers from various groups scattered throughout the internet. I know theres a gfaqs one out there.

It's a chatroom that you can still use while playing videogames, which, being an old man, still amazes me slightly. Getting randos to group up on voice or chat used to be a feat in itself.
