I remember the clerk there being initially charged, but the prosecutor dropped them. Hope the local prosecutor in Canada is smart enough to do the same. That may not be the case, self-defense is much trickier to argue in court in Canadian law. Considering he beat the guy with a baseball bat while he was lying on the sidewalk, it's probably already pretty lenient by Canadian standards that they only charged him with aggravated assault.
If he really followed the guy out of the store to keep beating on him, yeah he needs to be charged for that.whos mans is this?
whos mans is this?

So yes, they are going soft on him.
Police say that they intend to charge the robbery suspect, whom they have identified as a 37-year-old man, with robbery, assault with a weapon, and possession of weapon.
Im all for beating up criminals, but if they are fleeing you cant claim self defense. We all panic and not think rationally sometimes.
The clerk had no idea of knowing how many people were with the robber waiting outside. Following the robber outside could have VERY easily ended in an even bigger tragedy.Do you realize how dumb that sounds.
False.
The clerk got aggravated assault.
The criminal only got assault.
Your own fucking quote says that.

Learn to read.Wow, they charged him for robbery and possession of a weapon, the other crimes he committed! They really went hard on him!

Do you realize how dumb that sounds.I actually agree with you, though. He made the WRONG decision by following him outside. He could have very easily been ambushed. But we don't tend to think like that when the adrenaline's up.
Why put yourself in more more danger if you think the robber has accomplices waiting outside?
