Which Crisis Core is better?

Is the remake an actual 1:1 remake, or is it like FF7 Remake where's it more of a sequel/retelling/AU thing?

And I heard the original Crisis Core has annoying gameplay, so is the remake's gameplay the same or better?

Only played the original long time ago.

It's a remaster so same story they fixed the reel for battle so it's better then the original. However it's insanely short story wise. Worth grabbing if your a fan of the series but if you just want the story look up a video or a summary.

Its a prequel to 7, PSP version has better voice actors, the PS4 remaster has more quality of life things to make some things less vexing. Either way I would give it a shot since there are good odds the major folks in Crises Core are going to show up for Rebirth.
I played the remake and platinum'd it. I liked the powered up Buster Sword. If you like the story of FFVII, then Crisis Core gives it background.

The remake's gameplay is vastly better.

*Am playing it right now myself actually*

The entire game is way faster and attacks actually flow into one-another (using basic attacks and then your skill materia combos in the remake), but to compensate for you no longer moving a bit sluggish like in the original psp release enemies are also fast and way more aggressive. (In the og psp version enemies sort of did this thing where they would stand around and wait for you a lot. To account for the hardware/only being one analog stick to use thus the player being a good deal slower).

I'd say the most improved feature of the experience is that the DMV (lol I can't remember the exact spelling right now) no longer just constantly interrupts you and stop the game like in the original. Now in the remake some of the 5 star DMV reels with stop the game, but you can now skip these at anytime and the load times when you do so is non-existent/an instant.

I played through on the PS5 version and felt like the game was on speed:

The PC version can crank that up to 120fps @ 4K.

This is the original psp version of that fight:

I miss Rick Gomez's Zack :(

Over all the remake has better voices imo.

People still dont know the difference between a remake and a remaster?

CC:R is basically the exact same game reskinned.

Oh yeah, that was something I forgot about.

I love Zack's original voice, since I saw him in Kingdom Hearts and clips from FF7 stuff back in the day, but I watched clips of the new guy and he's just so bad comparatively. Everyone else sounds good to me, but I wish they hadn't recast Zack.

The cutscenes and the cutscenes that took place in-game yeah, its the same. The gameplay portion is nowhere near the same as the original though and is way beyond what just a basic remaster would be.

Get the remaster. There's a slot machine system (DMW) that runs during all fights that activates buffs and limit breaks.

The remaster streamlines it so it doesn't stop the fights completely in the middle of combat when it hits the same numbers. It has other QoL improvements, but that one is more than enough.
...I think I'm done here...
Thats why I said basically.

The fact of the matter is CC:R isnt a remake. The original game is used as a foundation.

Its a similar situation as Nier Replicant.

Oh cool, the remake is on sale on PSN right now anyway. Perfect timing (though I don't get paid till next week...).

Yeah, and I am saying "basically" it isn't, lmao. The gameplay changes is a bit more extensive so it isn't comparable to a average remaster.

The "people still don't know the difference between a remaster and a remake" shouldn't have even been brought up in the first place since it doesn't fit here. Same as how it shouldn't be brought up for nier replicant because like you said its in the same situation of being both a remaster style touch up and a lot of gameplay changes.

Credit card and pay it off when you get paid, homie
Hmm...
Eh, I still find Sephroth's new voice as inferior to as he's far less intense sounding and more wishy washy with his current actor.
Rick Gomez always needs work. Last big thing was what? Band of Brothers and the last before that The Adventures of Pete and Pete as Endless Mike

It's a remaster
Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.
Okay, I bought the remake. Gameplay is fun so far, though I don't really get the DMW thing. Graphics look kind crunchy at times, though. Guessing they didn't have this in the oven as long as the main 7 remake trilogy.

And yeah, Zack's actor is the weakest link out of the cast. Like, he's not awful but if you've already heard Rick Gomez's performance it's an objective step down.

So you agree that they arent remakes since theyre not making anything new just altering whats already there.

What kind of strange strawman pancakes and waffles style take out of what I said earlier is this? lol

Anyway, no, because something like buster sword proficiency and the attacks you can do with it's stance change is an example of something completely new and straight up was not a thing that existed in the original.

I don't really care about the semantics of the differences between a "remake" or "remaster," but wouldn't a remaster -- by the definitions given in this topic -- be like Wind Waker HD, where it's exactly the same except prettier and given some QoL additions?

Meanwhile, this new Crisis Core looks entirely remade from the ground up, with new assets and models and graphics and gameplay, so that would make it a "remake." Like the recent remakes of the old Resident Evil games.

This game's pretty addicting. I've somehow logged 20 hours in just two days, which doesn't seem possible, but I guess it was the weekend.
