There is a 2TB SSD at my local Walmart, for $179, but it is in the spot for the 1 TB for $119, should they honor the $119 since it was in the wrong spot?

when i worked there 10 years ago, that was the policy, and we were instructed to abide by it without question. and in recent years they have done that some of the time. but other times they have been very indignant and tried to make up every excuse under the sun they can think of as to why it wasn't actually in the wrong place or whatever, and they end up not giving it to you for the price it said. so, your mileage may vary.
It don't matter. None of this matters.

Worked in a Canadian Wal-Mart for 3 years.

The price that has been programmed into the registers and Employee Facing Devices are going to have the final word on that.

But, sometimes that wrong price is the one that's coded in, and you scored a NICE deal.

So....your mileage may vary.

Is it locked up in a case where people cant touch it? Is there more than 1 there? It could have easily been a customer that put it back in the wrong spot if the answer is no. Take a picture and raise hell at the register and you might possibly get the lower price.

They only honor it if it's locked up.

so what did you end up doing in this case, tc? was it locked up where no customers could touch it?
No. Because you can clearly read and see that it isn't the same item.

yeah i kinda agree with this. Many customers just trying to get a discount they really shouldn't get

No, and you dont have to be working at walmart to know the answer to that question. Retail stores put up with that kind of garbage all the time. I worked in a walmart for two years as a front end manager while in Grad School, and I can not begin to convey the loathing I felt every single time a customer tried to take advantage of the system and insult my intelligence to my face while doing it.

Especially since corporate always pulled the the customer is always right nonsense - while treating us like we were garbage. I did literal cartwheels in the parking lot when I finally left. But my experience was so bad that to date, I swore never to do any of that crap to employees in any retail store. I put my cart in the appropriate lane in the parking lot so it doesnt hit anyone elses car. I use the cashiers and actually talk to them as opposed to ignoring them entirely. And I check the prices of anything I buy on the shelves and make sure that the price on the shelf is what I am paying for.

And its weird - because while I do all of those things, I still almost want to tell you to try anyway and get away with it, because fuck walmart.

My resolution - the next time the Eagles are in the Superbowl, I'm going!

I didn't work at Walmart, but when I worked at a grocery store we always checked the bar code regardless of where an item was on the shelf. There are far too many people who look at something and just put it back wherever to go by shelf location.

i used to work there and this kind of shit was so dumb. the only reason we ever let it pass was because the person fighting for it was so annoying we just wanted them to leave without having to get cops involved.
the ONLY scenario where i would say you have a case is if it was placed into a locked display and the price was a banner price, aka no sku or description so you couldn't actually tell it was the wrong item.
treating customers with kid gloves is something that really needs to die in this country.

at no point should customers be allowed to act like annoying dipshits or abuse employees. managers need to grow some balls and start kicking these losers out, and corpo scum need to back them on that decision instead of sending hostile emails to the store manager whenever a staff person has to get confrontational with a customer.
There's a time and place for everything... but not now.

TC was it locked up omfg answer us! If it was not locked up then the only times it would be honored is if it was an old weekly ad tag that someone forgot to grab down. Or if the shelf sticker says one thing for literally that specific item, and it rings up wrong.

If its locked up it should be honored because its not something that is easily misplaced like unlocked items.

Plus customers are dumb as hell. They have those computer price system that will tell you the price of said item, even some workers who have Zebra devices can scan the item to help verify the price. Customers are just trying to be cheapskates.

yeah frequently, just trying to cheat the system, so what did you do, tc?
Could be the employee who stocked it doesn't know anything about the product and it looked similar to the 1tb. I would ask if you could get it for that price, but ultimately you know it's not the correct price. I would at least ask if it's possible but don't be a dick lol.
