Could I play Mega MAN Battle Network 2 without playing 1 first or will i be lost

I played 3 first without playing 1 or 2 as a kid, and I don't recall having any trouble.

I played the third game first, there are some things referenced from the first game but but honestly the canon timeline retons some things from game to game anyways.
Mainly the fifth to sixth game has the most noticable retcon.

Play the first game with bustermax if you do play it, the first game's combat is repetitive even for a GBA title.
