Then I call the government office and set up an appointment and they say they only accept photos taken at their offices.

I guess Im confused as to where you got them from. Places like Walgreens take passport photos that can be used.

And if they are not accepted, you can return to the store and get your money back.

So where did you get your passport photo taken?

It costs 120DKK to get them taken at the government office.

Also, a passport is a good thing to have as a backup ID in case you lose your wallet, get robbed, or need federal ID to purchase something like a firearm and you recently had an address change or something. An issue I've personally run into.

All this of course assuming you live in the US.

I was surprised to learn you can now take the photo yourself with your phone and submit it online.
