GAAS is like DLC, paid online, and MTX. Pisses gamers off up until something else comes along that pisses them off and it becomes the norm. Once GAAS becomes the norm they'll probably try and push NFTs or Metaverse shit again.
So stop buying GAAS games if you don't want more of them. There's no reason why anyone should be buying that Suicide Squad game rn.
Games as a service is the future of the industry.

I actually had a friend try to justify the avengers game to me lolMy friends justify buying these games too with shit like "there's nothing else out" and it's like there's at least 5 games that come out every month that are worth playing. These GAAS games are never one of those five.
I guess they saw destiny destroying its reputation among its player base and thought hey lets copy this
Live service games dont work.
I guess I'll just continue to play board games.Even those have "DLC"

It's not so bad if they mean putting out a f2p game.but still bad

They did for Fortnite. And it worked way beyond expectations.
And now companies want a piece of the pie.
The problem is that they are making shitty games with a $70 price tag.
As much as I dislike Fortnite, the game is free and very well polished.
Im not a big Fortnite player but Fortnite does it correctly.Nah both are trash
Base game is FTP. You dont lose anything you pay for. The game is constantly being updated and balanced. Its super easy to get into.
now lets look at Destiny. Game is free to try but you have to pay for multiple expansions to catch up on content. Content that may or may not be removed at the devs whim. Its hard to get into and if you do manage to get past the terrible new player introduction youre lost in the story and no direction in what you can do. Mechanics of the game are constantly broken to where Bungie will constantly disable weapons and supers or just decide not to do anything.
The survey defines live services as any regular update cadence planned for a game.
This is a nonsense definition of live service. So it basically covers any DLC and patches?
It's not so bad if they mean putting out a f2p game. But adding live service shit to a full priced game is annoying.
by the standards of this survey splatoon would count as a live service game ya know the game that offers FREE content to keep players investedwell... isn't it?
Ignore the slop, live service can be done well.Warframe and Path of Exile are the only examples I can think of that do it right. Even then, Warframe has definitely attempted to gouge it's users but the player base throws a fucking fit and the devs immediately back down.
Warframe is undeniable proof.
Many of them fail. A ton of these games have closed down. I dont want to buy into something that will just close within a few years. Made that mistake with Marvel Heroes (console).
