Do you honestly believe a modern turn based Final Fantasy would sell?

*looks at sales data for Octopath*

For a brand new series, Octopath 1 sold over 3 million copies as of 2022. Octopath 2 is over a million.

Triangle Strategy is over a million in 2022 as well.

If that is what new series can do, FF going back to that style should sell gangbusters. Dragon Quest 11 is over like 7 million copies sold?
I think proper context has to be added here. The first Octopath sold over a million copies in three weeks and was sold out in Japan for weeks. The sequel took close to 5 months to reach one million sales and underperformed in Japan. Those arent bad sale numbers at all but they arent spectacular either and one thing to keep in mind is that the first Octopath game introduced the HD2D art style as its main gimmick which could explain why it did as well as it did.

Dragon Quest is an established brand, much like Pokemon.

Plus what does the thread mean by turn based? Turn based as in traditional turn based of characters standing in a row taking turns or something more dynamic like Baldurs Gate? Actually scratch this didnt read the first post properly.
Forbid it, Almighty God!
