I just...feel I should stress this. In a time where Star Fox has not gotten a gimmick-free iteration in decades, we're getting a Star Fox-esque minigame in a Final Fantasy RPG. Wild world this is.

I feel like the FF7R series is inching ever closer to being Like a Dragon and that's all right with me.

Bayonetta did this already

I thought that was just the roller coaster game.

FF7 remake part 2 has the Gold Saucer. A casino/game center type place. It was in the original FF7 too. It's full of mini games
More games need mini games. And that includes FF. 16 had 0 and it suffered for it
Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.
You mean a rail shooter mini-game, Starfox didn't invent the genre

Also I think the rail shooter was in the original game too. I vaguely remember it

OP, did you not play the original? The original also had a rail shooter at the Golden Saucer.

I don't remember that rail shooter in the original at all. My my mind is blown.
I'll be fair, I forgot the OG had something similar. The OG minigames that left an impression on me were Chocobo Racing, G-Bike, Fort Condor, and the snowboarding.

But since this game is just expanding every minigame I feel that's still significant.

The rail shooter was in it's own separate zone in the golden saucer. You're on a roller coaster with loads of light shows and lasery effects and you have these god awful controls to shoot all these things that pop up
You know, I wonder if the rail shooter minigame I saw was different then. Because in Rebirth it looked like you were controlling a starfighter in space, shooting lasers at an enemy boss. You could see why I would call it Star Fox-esque, lol.

There was a peek at another rail shooter where Barret and Yuffie are shooting targets on a minecart, I wonder if that was the rollercoaster-type minigame.

I hope the Masamune replice we got from the minigame is usable now.

I remember it quite well; as I played it over and over to get those useless rewards like 1/35th Soldier, because as a kid I was convinced that they were part of some grand in-game secret to reviving Aeris . IIRC you could also win a spear for Cid that was really cool visually.

I blame Symphony of the Night for giving me the false impression that other games of the era would pay off their random esoteric breadcrumb trails in such a grandiose fashion.
Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read.
The rail shooter game in the original wasn't very interesting.

Couldnt you win one of Aeris best weapon as well?

The mini games shown so far

Motorcycle Chase/ G Bike, with potentially a boss fight/rival
Rail Shooter / Star Fox
Piano Hero
Military March and Dance, Probably another with The Honey Bee Inn guy
Dolphin Score Attack
Chocobo Hunting
Chocobo Racing
Chocobo Field Time Trial
Moogle House
Fort Condor Returning
New Card Game called Queens Blood
Avatar Punch Out
Box Breaker returns

Wouldn't be surprised if the CPR mini game returns but re-contextualized

I have a feeling every character is getting their own mini-game too

New Card Game called Queens Blood
This is the one I'm most interested in. I wonder how fleshed out it is. I remember liking the card games in 8 and 9
Out of all the mini games, it has its own section on the main menu, so I'm sure there's gonna be some neat things

Fort Condor looks like is gonna be even more involved since main characters can participate in-game
