I hope someone actually listens to this and it just doesn't get lost in a sea of recommendations that no one pays attention to.For what its worth I actually do try to click on everyone's recommendations in these kind of topics. Sometimes it may take me a day or 2 to get through them all, but I will eventually.

I think for a lot of us that played the NES back in the day we tend to remember most recommendations already. Like I loved blaster master myself so I def. remember that game's soundtrack...its pretty awesome.
I didn't hear the boss theme from that widget game before so that one was pretty cool. My first time hearing that overlord title theme and the bass is freaking nuts.
Same song, but OG first, cover second.

I always try to post it in these as I was surprised how hard it hit the first time I heard it.

I mean it made it into the actual remake of the show its so good
I honestly think most of the stage themes for Mega Man 1-4 could be nominated. The series is incredible for its music, let alone the games. Just two quick examples of themes that go hard (yeah yeah, the first one is used ad nauseam, but its a masterpiece):Dont sleep on MM5
As far as random one-off songs go, I always thought the title screen for pictionary was sort of insaneNobuo just knew how to crank the best possible stuff out of the system. Hes the best.

In terms of overall soundtracks I'm partial to the NES release of maniac mansion. it's a point and click adventure where you control a variety of characters and they each have their own bgm theme, they suit each character well and a lot of them are bangers

Also sort of departing from how many of the songs in this topic are just things that go totally insane, but I am to this day impressed by the original rendition of the final fantasy theme. it's amazing how they managed to put so much emotion into such a catchy and coherent melody and countermelody despite being extremely limited by the tech of the time

Seriously? No Pictionary?Jesus christ did the person who was responsible for the tunes earn that bonus pay for this. This is some good stuff, and its also my first time hearing tracks from that gimmick game. Sunsoft has no chill.

You can always rely on Tim Follin to go all out even if it's just a title screen song. Was going to post this.

The entire Blaster Master (NES) soundtrack is excellent, but as far as hard hitting I have to single out the stage 7 music. It hits so hard. There is just something so sentimental to me about music from the NES era. I often like it better than modern orchestral soundtracks. That one's great but if you ask me the stage 1 music goes even harder. I still imagine it in my head if I'm starting my car and about to go on a long trip.
