I thinkCool but is he dreaming at the end of the movie or not?Nolan is a hack
he sees his kids' faces,See, that is the big indicator for me. There's nothing about that scene that feels surreal or wrong.
Dreaming? The ending was intentionally ambiguous. But the spinning totem DID start to wobble slightly. So you're supposed to think it's likely it's a happy ending--- but you never know (sly smirk)...
Because I think there's no way in hell that he's still dreaming.
but the official answer is that it doesn't matter, from what I've heard.
If you experience my film, you are getting it. I feel very strongly about that. I think that where people encounter frustrations with my narratives in the past sometimes, I think theyre slightly missing the point. Its not a puzzle to be unpacked. Its an experience to be had.
Nolan admitted his movies aren't really meant to be figured out, just enjoyed. This means he doesn't really think all of these 'complicated' things through in a meaningful way and just does what seems cool. Why does the ending to every movie always have to be tied up nicely in a tight little bow? The whole 'point' of Inception has less to do with whether he succeeds, but more about an exploration of how we navigate dreams and our subconsciousness.
^ that's basically what Nolan was saying in that quote i put up thereYeah, and you dismissed it as if it's some kind of bad or meaningless thing. Just because an ending is ambiguous doesn't make the themes and concepts explored in the movie to be less than meaningful. There's plenty of value in the enjoying the journey, rather than the destination.

this topic is now about eXistenZI've never even heard of it
The real ending is that whether it is a dream or not doesnt matterI feel like this is also valid. He's been living whatever live he's currently living for a long time now, what difference does it make if he's asleep or not?

oh. i didn't mean to. sorry. i'm also not sure where i added any subjectivity to that statement, but i guess it doesn't matter.I apologize then if you didn't mean it that way.
