Probably because shes a blatant Catwoman rip-off, and execs were afraid audiences would respond poorly to it. But yeah that doesnt matter anymore now that theres like 8 new superhero movies per year.

Was there even anything stopping Sony from using Black Cat? She's firmly a Spidey character right? Not like Daredevil being held up by marvel or whatever. It's kinda crazy we get team ups with other Spider-Men multiple times before ever getting Black Cat.

IIRC, they were setting it up (along with tons of other plot threads that ultimately went nowhere ) in TASM2, but we all know how that turned out.

I don't want Sony to use Black Cat anyway. I wanna see her in the next MCU Spidey trilogy.
