The two party system has been in place for centuries, but the current division that exists is at an all-time high. Even though the country was fully united shortly after 9/11.Trump emboldened racism and bigotry which brought the bigots out of the closet
What happened after that got us to where we are today?
Two party system, Republicans becoming increasingly fascist, various social injustices that have been in place in this country since its inception, Russia and China fanning the flames, etc.Basically, we're voting against project 2025, voting to restore reproductive rights, voting against the person who was found to be liable of rape, and said same person continues to paraphrase Hitler.
Smartphones and broadband internet access became affordable in the late '00s-early '10s and suddenly millions and millions of Americans with no media literacy or knowledge of politics became easy targets for misinformation and propaganda campaigns.
The seeds were planted with 24-hour news cycles and post-9/11 paranoia but as awful as it sounds, too many people were given too much access to the internet, on devices that are too affordable and too easy to use.
It's to keep all the people distracted from the rich getting richer whilst the dumb people fight over each other without realising that they're being robbed. When you try to explain this to them, you get called a woke communist.
I don't think it is really. Not in reality.
Maybe online and in the media but most people just wanna live or have no choice but to live day to day and don't have the luxury of worrying about anything outside of their own lives.
This is incredibly naive.Nah it's reality.
echo chambers
real truth is late stage capitalism
There is money to be made in this culture war so disinformation and divisive wording in media is rampant. Not to mention, the people on the "correct" side of politics have absolutely no idea how to speak without looking down on someone or insulting them.I'm fine with looking down on people not voting against the rapist.
Millions of 50 somethings addicted to watching Fox News every hour of every day and having a completely fucked up worldview as a result.Fox News only has about 3 million viewers. Their influence is overstated.
Nah it's reality.
Twitter extremists and media spamming their bullshit all day every day is not reality.
Even though the country was fully united shortly after 9/11.
Make America Great Again (except Minnesota)I see you're a big fan of the Republican party.
I don't think it is really. Not in reality. And the way we're going, LGBT people aren't going to have the luxury of thinking about anything except their own lives at a basic survival level.
Maybe online and in the media but most people just wanna live or have no choice but to live day to day and don't have the luxury of worrying about anything outside of their own lives.
Seems like each side just blames the other side. I try and stay away from politics."One side says 2 + 2 = 4. The other side says 2 + cat = purple (and is offensive whenever they are coherent). Same thing, both sides."
