Moscow itself is a very nice city.This is a pattern in Russian history that goes back centuries. The rest of the country is always getting impoverished in order to make Moscow look better.
Then you look at any cities that aren't in the Moscow/St. Petersburg area and they're complete shitholes because all the money gets funneled to where the oligarchs live and fuck everybody else. Moscow has to look nice because it's the centerpiece of Russian propaganda.
