Holy shit
There's some ban-worthy bad takes in this thread
Listen to late Carlin, he got applause not laughs. He was more a spoken word artist.
Maybe because a lot of that stuff was "best of" that the audience had been listening to since the 1980s because that's how big shows with legacy entertainers go.Maybe his regular appearances had him replaying old bits but his specials had him preform new material and his last special was not that funny.
You don't go to a pink Floyd concert and then be like:
"Well I expect I won't hear anything from The Wall or Darkside. I hope they ONLY play new material!"

Not just unfunny, he's obnoxious.
Andy Richter. Dude sucks assI don't know if I've ever seen his standup, but he's great in Arrested Development
Shumer
Greg Gutfeld
No way. His joke ofI think I saw Hedberg tell that one in his set for a comedy festival. He said something that's true and delivered it flat. When you do that there's a big risk that it also will land flat, leaving the audience to wait silently for the joke not realizing *that was it.* If fans are already in the audience, then they'll probably laugh, and others might laugh because of that, but not because of the joke that was told.
"Here's a picture of me when I was younger"
Carlin was funny as hell in his younger days. His stuff as an old man was rather subpar.
Listen to late Carlin, he got applause not laughs. He was more a spoken word artist.I appreciate Carlin on many levels. You have to go way back to see how creative he had to be to stay funny without getting "cancelled." When he took his career off-network for his own live audiences, he had more freedom, but that didn't mean he could say or do everything that he wanted to.
The Hedberg and Carlin hate is making me regret this topicIt's important to recognize that both facts and opinions add to a conversation, but also to accept that each has different limitations in what they can meaningfully add to it.
I am surprised no one said Pauly Shore but then again do people even remember Pauly Shore?Remember Bio-Dome?

I actually laughed at it and didnt mind him. How dare ye. The man has 1 million troopsI honestly miss stuff like this, Xbox E3 with awful Kinect demo, and Mr Caffeine, etc. Sure it was liking it in an ironic way, but it's the kind of so bad it's good that you only get from trying your best, and still bombing on every level.
On topic.
Kevin heart or Chris rock if he counts
I am surprised no one said Pauly Shore but then again do people even remember Pauly Shore? If there was ever an example of nepotism in entertainment, and them getting unfair advantages in relation to their actual talent, it's Pauly Shore.
His stand up is awful. But I will call in sick to re-watch In the Army Now.Is it hot in Chad?
Is it hot in Chad?
I thought Theo Von was gonna be the next great comedian but he veered too far into I knew a (obviously fake) guy named (fake weird name) that (did obviously fake weird thing) territory so there was no actual substance to any of his material. Comedians are supposed to make you suspend disbelief and assume their anecdotes are true, but when theyre so obviously fictional theres no point.
Listen to late Carlin, he got applause not laughs. He was more a spoken word artist. This is, I feel, a fair criticism. I recall reading that Carlin was doing some show once and refused to do one of his pieces live because he considered them performances, not stand-up.
People (esp. guys) really hate Amy Schumer.Shes not funny?
Wonder why...
Shes not funny?
Taylor Tomlinson is fucking hilarious.
If I was going to say a man it would be Dane Cook.
People (esp. guys) really hate Amy Schumer.idk. I think it's pretty funny that she calls herself a comedian. that alone is funnier than a lot of the other comedians brought up in this topic.
Wonder why...
Dave Chappelle
