I mean culturally yeah he was in the west too. But not in-universe. They left him out of the Tournament of Power and did the whole Saibamen pose during that baseball game filler episode. Felt a little too "Ha ha Yamcha bad, so funny!"

It's not as much Yamcha being bad as the death pose itself just being that iconic of him. Many different anime over the years have referenced it directly, to the point where it might actually be one of the most directly-referenced things from Dragon Ball.

Nah sorry man. Putting the likes of Roshi in the Tournament of Power, or even making a deal with the devil to get Frieza in there, instead of Yamcha was just way too over the top. They even made fun of him in the show iirc, like he was looking forward to being asked, but never was. And it's not like he didn't have some unique attacks (Spirit Ball, Wolf Fang Fist) that could have made for some interesting fights

My point is, they were way too meme-y with it at the expense of actual storytelling. And I get his background was a gag-manga artist, but Dragon Ball hadn't been that since the original Dragon Ball. I didn't really care for it
