I work, but if I was given $10 million and told to be a NEET, I wouldn't have a moment's hesitation.

You can't trust gamefaqs polls. People often pick the choice that'll get the most reaction.

you think most of these neets are lying? Yeah, what do they do for money though?
I'm too old to be a neet, but if I didn't have to worry about rent, utilities, and food I'd gladly become a hikikomori instead of working.

I work seasonally so I have had 3-4 months of NEETdom yearly over the past few years and it ain't it chief. It's fun at first but then is draining and depressing. Work actually is gratifying to some extent, both for having stuff to do, and then of course making money. I know you can argue that I just need hobbies etc to fill time, but I don't know. Without more of a structure, the days all blend in to one another and it feels weird.
How quaint.
Im not surprised this board is disproportionately neet
Graduated college last August. Have a full time job, but its not what I went to school to do, or enjoyable.
He's all alone through the day and night.
I know some people in their 30s who are neet. They are faking disability to get government cheques. The type of people who think moderating a twitch chatroom is a job and complain it isn't paid well enough.

It's sad but they are pretty miserable too.

The poll is for the site itself, not just this board.

There are absolutely not ~6000 users on CE.

Admittedly, so would I.

I doubt that's the case (as in, they're rich) for the vast majority people who voted in yesterday's poll, though.

I believe the closest english word for my situation is Disabillity, its not a thing that translates well (Either because of dramatic differences in social security nets, or there is a word and i just dont know it, because i spend most of my time on american sites), but its a yes for sure.

Maybe Im just warped because all Ive ever had are jobs that were extremely stressful, degrading, physically demanding, that basically paid pennies (meanwhile during the pandemic I got to be told what an EsSeNtiAL hErO I was while people were sitting on their asses at home making more than I was) but work has always been the #1 thing thats gotten in the way of my happiness.

About a decade ago I had to be out of work for a few months due to an injury (which, of course, was caused by work) and, aside from being in pain, it was freaking awesome. Not a second went by where I thought Id have rather been at work instead of doing whatever the fuck I wanted when I wanted.

I have a ton of ways to keep myself entertained without slaving away for some greedy corporation.

Work can be very rewarding, but most work isnt.

I do a fair amount of volunteer stuff and thats simply because I find it fulfilling and I can afford to.

I spend about a year and a half as a NEET as well back in the late 2000's.

I felt completely useless and like a failure. It was not good time in my life.
