It's a big, beautiful, fun game with loads of replay value and (bugs aside) a fine-tuned gameplay experience. The shooting feels amazing, the graphics, animations, and sound design are all top-tier...
And it's $40. With an extremely forgiving "battle pass" model that doesn't reset or expire if you don't play for a while. You can fairly easily farm the premium currency just by playing the game. It's super player-friendly and it's obviously designed from the ground up to be a fun game first and foremost.
Then you see games like Skull and Bones for $70, or even Dragon's Dogma 2 with its recent microtransaction controversy...and you stop to wonder...
What makes those games worth $70 if a badass and addictive game like Helldivers 2 is only $40?
