It really is a shame that Chi-Chi became a nagging housewife starting with DBZ.

I went back to watch the later parts of the King Piccolo saga and the entirety of the 23's World Martial Arts Tournament in the original Dragon Ball, and there, not only did Chi-Chi enter the tournament and fought Goku as well as she could, but she was even willing to put her life on the line to help fight against Piccolo when it seemed like he had killed Goku once and for all.

What happened to this Chi-Chi? I understand that she had to become a parent, but there could have been a balance between her Action Girl and Tiger Mom tendencies.

I dunno, it seemed to me like who she became as an adult was a natural extension of who she was as a kid. She was definitely groomed (I MEAN THAT IN THE OLD WAY) to play her role in life and seemed to embrace it.

I think Chi-Chi was always prepared to put her life on the line. She flying kicks a Stormtrooper in Lord Slug.

It's just that by the time DBZ rolled around the power creep left her behind. Even against Raditz she'd just be a distraction/dead weight.

She was always annoying.

She walked right up to Buu and slapped him on the lookout, she was still ready to throw hands.

She leaned hard the one way because she didn't want Gohan to turn out like Goku did, a mountain man with nothing but fighting on the brain. She realized she went too far in the studying aspect which is why she lightens up with Goten.

She was nagging in DragonBall
