I remember some translations saying that Jesus' last words before he ascended to heaven including "I'm coming back soon," and then noticing how the disciples kept standing there looking into the sky before an angel finally showed up and told them to get back to work, and thinking that was really funny. As if they thought he meant he would be back in a couple seconds/minutes or whatever.
But other translations say things like "quickly" or "without warning", with the idea being more like "you never know when I'm gonna come back," which kinda ruins the joke. A little. It's still
kinda
funny.
There's a difference between canon and not-stupid.
