My mother used to all the time when she was alive. I would buy her tennis games that only she would play. She didnt like the mascot tennis games though.

My dad hasnt touched a game in like thirty years. He liked Super Mario Kart back when it was new but was never any good at it or put in the practice.

My parents never quite got over the 90's video game scare.

For those who don't remember, it was every boomer criticism of video games all at once and a hundred times stronger than anything this century.

Basically, everyone with any influence at all was telling our parents that video games were going to kill our motivation, kill our attention spans, make us shoot people and turn us into demonic cultists all at once.
There's a difference between canon and not-stupid.
They both play mobile games now.

They used to hang out at the arcades before I was born. My dad played my NES, then moved to shooters when we got our PC in the 90s. My mom used to play the NES then stopped.
...I think I'm done here...
i tried once getting my dad to play, i think it was one of the original Star Wars Battlefront games years ago

he never got past the "just press X to start" stage

My dad played tons of NES LoZ, growing up both my parents played age of empires and mario kart (and I don't just mean in the sense that they reluctantly played it to play with their kids). Nowadays my mom plays mostly random facebook games and my dad plays... wordle, if that counts lol
THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! THERES SO MUCH PEOPLE READING AND POSTING STUIPED STUFF
My dad and I actually worked together for my first play-through of OoT when I was like 9 - I remember our death counter being at like 70 by the time we finished, and only 3 of them were mine, lol. And he went out and bought a PS2 and GTA3 on a whim, but never really played it and I don't recall him playing any other console games after that. Maybe a little NES when I was real young.

My dad has been playing games on PC since the early 90s.

He got me into RTS games and Tycoon games back in the day.

He's currently playing Cyberpunk and Starfield.

Constant isolation and distress.
Nope. My parents are both boomers and they never got into games. The most my mom will do is like wordscapes on her phone.

Dad has in the past, but it was pretty infrequent, mostly with me. Mom has no interest.
