Mariska Hargitay fully embodied her "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" character by helping a young girl find her mother. Hargitay was dressed in her "SVU" detective gear for filming the show on April 10 in New York City, thus bearing a striking resemblance to a police officer. A young girl, unaware of the cast and crew around the location, approached Hargitay, mistaking her for a real-life police officer, seeking help locating her mother. Hargitay quickly jumped into action, channeling her inner Olivia Benson, the detective she plays on the show. A witness told People magazine that Hargitay paused production for 20 minutes to help the child find her mother. The interaction took place at Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park. Eventually, the young girl, with the help of Hargitay, was reunited with her mother. It seems as though Hargitay has learned a thing or two from playing a detective on the "Law & Order" spin-off since 1999.

"SVU" is currently filming its 25th season. The show is the longest-running, prime-time live-action series in the history of American television. "Weve been on a parallel journey," Hargitay told People ahead of the premiere of the show's 25th season in January. "Theres a thing: WWOBD, What would Olivia Benson do? The fans would always talk about it, and one day it hit me. I also have those moments where Ive sort of slipped into her. If theres a crisis, I just take over and lead like that. Being strong and fearless. Its sort of this perfect feminist story." "What would Olivia Benson do?" has become quite a phenomenon among "SVU" fans, and the thought process was put into action by Hargitay in helping the lost child find her mother.
Hey now.

Daww, thats awesome
Hmm...
It's amazing to think that when SVU started Benson was just the empathetic foil to Stabler the impulsive hothead, and now she's one of the most iconic TV characters ever.

She's such a badass.

Excellent actress and an even better person.

She's used her role as Olivia to promote lots of causes/charities that help rape victims and has made it a point to note that the real NYPD SVU is woefully underfunded and bad at their jobs compared to the TV version.

I like them but I prefer Goren and Eames.
Hello
Good Gal Mariska Hargitay. I've only ever heard good things about her so it's nice seeing more.

That was a solid duo as well. Goren's eccentricity was such a good idea for a character and made him one of the most unique, especially for a cop series. The only other one I can think that matches is Reid from Criminal Minds, though tbh it's not like I watch every law enforcement show either lol.

Goren is the GOAT L&O detective, and IMO the best detective in any cop serial. Nobody plays a closet psychopath a hair's breadth away from snapping like Vincent D'Onofrio does.

He also plays a psychopath who has snapped pretty good too.

He did great as the villain in the TV remake of The Taking of Pelham 123.
