There's credence to it, but a long time ago. It is how the Lost Alpha was programmed and people unwisely assumed ShoC on release was the same. It kind of was, but it got rapidly and silently patched and the rumor stuck.
I had no idea Stalker games were on consoles now. That is amazing, they're some of my favorite games of all time. Unbeatable atmosphere.
